The Executive Secretary of DSVA, Mrs Titilola Vivour-Adeniyi, made this known in a statement in Lagos. She said that the agency received a distress call on Wednesday from a reporter of an alleged case of domestic violence. “In the wake of the recent report of a seven-month pregnant woman who lost her life as a result of domestic violence, the agency has received yet another distress call from a mandated reporter of an alleged case of domestic violence involving another pregnant woman and her husband. “It was alleged that an expectant mother was physically assaulted by her partner who then proceeded to locked her in their apartment located in the Mushin Area of the state. “It was reported that the alleged physical assault eventually resulted in the pregnant woman losing consciousness and it took t...

Housewife poisons herself, Children after misunderstanding with Husband A Housewife, known as Amina, has killed herself and her two children after a fight with her husband in Zimbabwe Amina, 31, reportedly fed her two kids, a son aged 10 and a daughter aged 5, yoghurt laced with rat poison, and also took the poisoned yoghurt. Their bodies were found in their rented room. Amina wrote two notes, one to her husband, in which she told him that he was responsible for her death and the children’s. The second note was to her family, in which she apologised for her actions but said she was tired of life and the constant fights with her husband I love you all,” was her last post on her WhatsApp status before the incident. President Tinubu reacts to Ibadan explosion, issues firm order President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has said that those responsible for the tragic explosion in Ibadan, Oyo State, on Tuesday must be fished out and punished. Ajuri Ngelale, the presidential spokesperson, disclosed this in a statement on Wednesday. Tinubu directed the National Emergency Management Agency, NEMA, to work with the Oyo State Government to offer immediate and comprehensive relief to the victims. He commiserated with the government and people of Oyo State and called on all concerned agencies of government to unravel the circumstances that led to the tragedy. “It is worrisome that the cause of the blast is being attributed to the activities of illegal miners. Those behind the inexcusable and reckless behaviour that has created the conditions for the sad incident to occur must be fished out and punished,” the President said. The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) says that the N35,000 wage award agreement with the Federal Government will continue until a new minimum wage is determined. Mr Joe Ajaero, NLC President, said this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN)on Monday in Abuja. It would be recalled that President Bola Tinubu on Oct.1, had approved N35,000 as the provisional wage increment for all treasury-paid workers for six months. This was part of an agreement reached with the organised labour to cushion the effect of the removal of fuel subsidy. However, the federal government have only paid two months of the wage award that commenced in September 2023. Ajaero, while speaking against the backdrop of the payment of the wage award, said the payment would run for only six months before the commencement of the national minimum wage. Production at the Dangote Refinery and Petrochemical Company commenced on Friday. The refinery received the fifth crude oil shipment of one million barrels of Bonny Light supplied by the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation Limited last week. The 650,000 barrels per day oil processing facility started operations in May 2023. It is designed to process crude oil grades from the three continents of Africa, Asia and America.
