" Tinubu Appoints AIG Tunji Disu as New Acting IGP of Police After Egbetokun Resigns" News24 International 🇳🇬 President Bola Tinubu has accepted the resignation of the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Kayode Egbetokun, and appointed Assistant Inspector-General Tunji Disu as the new acting head of the Nigeria Police Force. Egbetokun stepped down from his position on Tuesday, 24th February 2026, after meeting with the President at the Presidential Villa in Abuja on Monday. Government sources said the president asked him to resign and begin the handover process to his successor, but official statements state that Egbetokun resigned due to pressing family issues. Tunji Disu is now expected to become the next Inspector-General of Police once the official confirmation process is completed. He will serve in an acting capacity for now.
