  Federal Govt reveals when President Tinubu will announce New Minimum Wage  Gasper Babatunde July 15, 2024 Federal Govt reveals when President Tinubu will announce New Minimum Wage. The Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, has announced that President Bola Tinubu is expected to make a final decision on the new minimum wage this Thursday. The President will meet with organised labor  to determine the amount to be proposed to the National Assembly. Idris mentioned that the Federal Executive Council has discussed the national minimum wage and plans to invite organized labor for a meeting this week.

The Supreme Court directs FG to pay allocation directly to the local Government.

Gasper Babatunde Reporting . The Supreme Court on Thursday directed that the allocation meant for the 774 local Government Areas in Nigeria be paid directly to them. It added that the State government has no right to keep and manage allocation on behalf of the local government saying such remains unconstitutional. Recall that the Federal Government, through the Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice instituted the case against the 36 State Governors for disbursing allocation to Council areas contrary to the position of the 1999 Constitution. Correspondent Kunle Ojo reports that Justice Emmanuel Agim, who prepared and read the Judgement maintained that, the state Governors have for over the years used the privilege conferred on them by the  Constitution to defraud and rob the local government of it's rights. Waradi Etuk Advocates Tree Planting as Climate Change Agent

  In commemoration of this year's world Environmental Day on 6th June, 2024. Waradi Etuk made a commitment to plant trees every month all through the rainy season.  The second phase of the tree planting exercise; Waradi Etuk said the tree planting initiative is to emphasize the need for everyone to be committed in tree planting. He further stated that trees are the umbrella of the earth, without trees humanity would have gone into extinction with so much heat from global warming, release of green house gases most especially from oxygen through human activities , gas flaring, extraction of crude oil , industrial processing , coal and the use of firewood .  This month tree planting exercise took place along GTBank , Alaba Lawson group of schools and along the bridge leading to Kuto axis.  In attendance were Representatives of the Honourable Commissioner for Forestry Ogun State Mr. Shonubi Adewale James while the Honourable Commissioner for Environment Ogun State repres...

UPDATED: Court Nullifies Edo PDP Gov Primary Election

A photo combo of the PDP emblem and a court gavel.  Gasper Babatunde Reporting  Justice Inyang Ekwo of the Federal High Court in Abuja has declared invalid the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) primary election that produced Asue Ighodalo as its governorship candidate. The election conducted on February 22, 2024, was voided on the ground that 378 delegates who were supposed to vote at the primary election were unlawfully excluded by PDP. Justice Ekwo nullified the primary election while delivering judgment in a suit instituted by the aggrieved delegates. The suit was instituted by one Kelvin Mohammed in a representative capacity. Justice Ekwo held that both the provisions of the Electoral Act 2022 and the PDP Guidelines were violated in the conduct of the primary election at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium in Benin.
