Soldier Criticises Sanwo-Olu, defends soldiers’ right to drive against traffic
The Lagos State governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has come under fire from a soldier
for ordering the arrest of his colleague and three other motorcycle riders for
riding against the flow of traffic on the Lagos-Badagry Expressway. The
unidentified soldier criticized Sanwo-Olu for labeling a soldier “useless” in
front of “bastard civilians.” On Thursday, January 4, the soldier looked to be
standing up for his fellow soldier in a widely circulated video. Remember that
on Tuesday, January 2, Sanwo-Olu issued an order for the arrest of three
additional motorbike riders and a soldier for riding against the flow of traffic
on the Lagos-Badagry Motorway. In a widely circulated video, Sanwo-Olu was shown
ordering his troops to lock up a biker who claimed to be a member of the
military and placing him into the car. The soldier felt his comrade had done
nothing to merit an arrest, so he responded to the one made by declaring the
state governor had no right to hold a soldier, especially in front of his
barracks. The Nation reported that, he claimed that command of the army rests
with senior officers, not with any state governor. "Did I just hear your
governor refer to a soldier as a Lance Corporal useless?" he asked. A corporal
lancetThey fired at the man, breaking his arm. His hands contain iron. "In front
of those bastard civilians, those idiots, you are calling a soldier useless." A
soldier was pushed by DSS. The Army only allows you five seconds to gather
yourself in each given scenario, so you must be prepared to defend yourself
against any assault or obstacle that comes your way.
