On a quiet Wednesday in May, the light fell softly through the glass of Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church.

The air carried more than hymns, it carried memory.

Eighty-five years of laughter, of sacrifice, of faithfulness — woven together into one beautiful life.

And today, the family gathered to give thanks for Agnes Kefoworola Gasper.

The church doors opened not just to guests, but to generations — children, grandchildren, cousins, and friends — all gathered as one family, one story, one heartbeat.

Her children, Mr. Clement Gasper, Mr. Ladi Gasper, Mrs. Jumoke Owoyeye, and Mrs. Tinuke Odeyemi, stood proudly beside their mother, while her late husband JK Gasper’s brothers, Mr. Anthony Gasper and Mr. Austin Gasper, were present to honor the family’s heritage and legacy. Friends and associates of the family were also in attendance, sharing in the joy of the milestone.

The 12:30 pm Thanksgiving Mass was a tapestry of gratitude. Hymns rose like incense, and blessings fell like gentle rain upon the woman who has been the quiet strength behind the Gasper name in Lagos and in the DIASPORA

A Tribute to Agnes Gasper

To many, she is more than a mother and grandmother — she is the steady hand that has guided the family through decades of change, the quiet voice of wisdom in moments of uncertainty, and the unwavering heart of compassion that has welcomed all who crossed her path. Her life stands as a testimony to resilience, humility, and an unshaken faith that continues to inspire generations. For 85 years, she has poured herself into others, and in return, she is now surrounded by the love she has so generously given.

Speaking on the virtues that define Mrs. Agnes Gasper, Mrs. Anthonia Daramola shared: “Mummy Agnes knows how to quietly exist among people. She respects her boundaries, and that is one of the reasons she is loved by many.”

“Eighty-five years is God’s gift. To live it surrounded by love is His masterpiece.”

Today, we don’t just mark a birthday. We honor a foundation, a matriarch, a testament to grace that has shaped a family and touched a community.
