HER EXCELLENCY MRS. BOLANLE AMBODE HONOURED WITH EPWA AWARD OF EXCELLENCE IN WOMEN EMPOWERMENT

Former Lagos First Lady Celebrated for Outstanding Contributions to Women Empowerment and Community Development

Her Excellency, Mrs. Bolanle Ambode, former First Lady of Lagos State, has been honoured with the prestigious EPWA Award of Excellence in Women Empowerment by the Epe-Division Professional Women Association (EPWA) in recognition of her remarkable contributions to women empowerment, humanitarian service, and community development.

The award was presented during EPWA's distinguished awards ceremony themed “Women as Catalyst for Community Development and Sustainable Leadership,” held on Saturday, June 13, 2026. Mrs. Ambode was represented at the event by Hon. Modupe Jessica Bewaji, who delivered her appreciation speech on her behalf.

In her message, Mrs. Ambode expressed profound gratitude to the leadership and members of EPWA for the honour, describing the recognition as a meaningful testament to the collective efforts of individuals and organizations dedicated to uplifting women and strengthening communities.

She commended EPWA for its unwavering commitment to advancing women’s leadership, promoting empowerment initiatives, and fostering sustainable development across Epe Division and beyond.

"This recognition inspires me even more to remain committed to the ideals of service, compassion, and empowerment, especially among women, children, and the vulnerable in our society. I receive this award not merely as a celebration of past efforts but as a challenge to do even more in service to humanity."

Mrs. Ambode noted that empowered women remain critical drivers of social transformation and nation-building, emphasizing the need for continued collaboration among stakeholders to advance economic prosperity, social cohesion, and sustainable development.

She further encouraged Nigerians to remain hopeful and supportive of initiatives aimed at strengthening national development while applauding the ongoing developmental strides in Lagos State, which continue to position the state as a leading centre of innovation, commerce, infrastructure, and good governance.

Although unavoidably absent from the event, Mrs. Ambode stated that Hon. Modupe Jessica Bewaji's presence at the ceremony reflected the importance she attached to the recognition and the high regard in which she holds the Epe-Division Professional Women Association.

On behalf of His Excellency Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode, former Governor of Lagos State, the good people of Epe, family members, friends, associates, and well-wishers, Mrs. Ambode conveyed heartfelt appreciation to EPWA for the distinguished honour.

She described the award as a celebration of a lifetime of service and a motivation to continue contributing positively to society.

Mrs. Ambode concluded by praying for greater success for EPWA in its noble mission of empowering women and promoting community development, expressing confidence that the association would continue inspiring positive change throughout Epe Division, Lagos State, and Nigeria as a whole.
