Six safety tips to take while watching Super Eagles final AFCON match

During the Nigeria vs South Africa semi-final, over four Nigerians passed away, with some succumbing to hypertension, while the cause of death remains unknown for others.

Looking ahead, the Super Eagles of Nigeria will play against host Cote d’Ivoire in the final of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations on Sunday.

Here are some safety tips to consider while watching the Nigeria vs Cote d’Ivoire final:

1. Listen to your body:

Pay attention to your heart rate and pace of breath. If the heart rate or breath quickens, that’s stress. The body doesn’t know the difference between “good” and “bad” stress.

2. Take screen breaks during halftime.

3. Prevent stiffness with short stretches

4. Eat fruits during the game.

5. Breathe: Inhale for four counts. Exhale for four counts. Repeat. Do this as often and as many times as needed.

6. Stay positive: Even if the game intensifies, being together with friends and showing support for the team brings about the positive energy that we can pass on to the players because that’s what it’s all about. Supporting the Super Eagles, win or lose.
